Newborns

With a lot of excitement going around of new member arriving in the family, we would like to help to make this transition to parenthood as smooth as possible for you and your family.

If you are delivering your baby at:

  • Abrazo Arrowhead Hospital
  • Banner Del E Webb Hospital

Let your obstetrician or the hospital staff know that you would like Dr. Arora to visit your new baby in the hospital. Within 24 hours of birth Dr. Arora will see the Newborn in the Hospital before you are discharged home.

Before your baby is discharged, hospital staff will do the following:

First newborn screen to detect certain genetic disorders.

  • Hepatitis B vaccine 1st dose
  • Vitamin K injection
  • Erythromycin eye ointment
  • Hearing test
  • First Newborn Screen

If you will deliver your baby at a hospital other than those listed above, a hospital staff pediatrician will examine your baby in the hospital. Upon discharge from the hospital, We recommend to schedule your first visit within 24-48 hr after discharge from hostpital.  If a Newborn needs any Jaundice follow up, it should be evaluated in 24 hr.

We recommend adding your new baby to your insurance policy within 30 days of birth to ensure coverage.  Please select Dr. Arora as your baby’s primary care provider(PCP).  Please bring any hospital records regarding your baby’s health (including Hepatitis B vaccination , newborn screen and hearing screen) to your first office visit.

Circumcision

If you are interested in having your baby circumcised we will arrange referral with Banner Pediatric Urology or PCH Urology for the procedure on your first office visit. Most insurances do not cover this procedure it will be out of pocket fee.

Please check with your insurance for coverage for this procedure. We recommend circumcisions be done as soon as feasible after birth, preferably in the first 1-2 wks.
